About us
The Human Rights Legal Support Centre is an independent agency,
funded by the Government of Ontario, to provide legal services to individuals who
have experienced discrimination. The Centre will provide legal
assistance to individuals in taking an application to the Human Rights Tribunal
of Ontario to resolve a human rights dispute.
People in Ontario continue to face discrimination – based on a disability or based on their race, gender or sexual
orientation, or on any of the other identified characteristics set out in Ontario's
Human Rights Code.
The Centre is working to help people claim and protect their rights - by providing
advice on its telephone inquiries line; by assisting individuals to file human rights
applications; and by representing applicants at mediations and hearings at the Human
Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
The Centre participates in community outreach initiatives with a human rights focus,
working in partnership with Ontario's community legal clinics and with community
organizations in various parts of the province, as well as with the Ontario Human
Rights Commission. Our goal is to inform Ontarians of the services provided by the
Centre and to work with community organizations that can intervene to help an individual
before an infringement occurs, whether at work, in securing housing or when dealing
with service providers.
